3 Hidden Breakthroughs in Chronic Fatigue and Pain

Hello friends, it’s been three years since my last article. Several hundred patients and a neuroscience MSc later, you can probably guess why!
Supporting hundreds of people with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Long Covid, and Fibromyalgia has been an incredible journey. My understanding of these conditions has deepened enormously, thanks in large part to my study of Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt’s Autonomic Response Testing (ART) and his remarkable range of techniques and remedies.
In this article, I’m going to share three game-changing insights that have transformed how I support Chronic Fatigue, Long Covid and Fibromyalgia in my practice.
1. When all else fails, it’s usually an emotion or hidden infection.
Many of the clients we see have spent years — and thousands of pounds — exploring every test and protocol imaginable to fix their fatigue and pain, from SIBO to Lyme disease to MCAS. Yet despite all efforts, they still don’t feel well. In our experience, when progress stalls, the root often lies in one of two things: an unaddressed emotion or a hidden infection.
In the past, I used to say that once you clear environmental toxins and infections, the emotional blocks tend to release on their own. However, our work with Dr. Klinghardt’s ART has revealed that some emotions remain deeply embedded — or that certain infections hide within tissues, shielded from both the immune system and remedies.
Often, the emotional block involves a stressor we’ve become habituated to — a parent, spouse, or job that subtly drains our energy and impedes healing. Even when someone is already doing emotional work through therapy, EMDR, or other modalities, a deeper layer may remain. The encouraging news is that these blocks can often be cleared through approaches such as sound and light therapy, hypnotherapy, APN, or other integrative methods.
We also meet people who’ve completed multiple parasite cleanses or antimicrobial protocols without lasting results. ART frequently reveals that certain infections can “hide” in damaged tissues — often around old scars or within specific organs — where remedies or the immune system cannot reach them. In these cases, even the most potent herbs may have poor uptake in the affected tissue until the underlying blockage is addressed.
2. Chronic Pain Can Be Helped with Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM)
Over the past year, I’ve been training under Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt and Daniella Deiosso in Autonomic Response Testing (ART). On the surface, ART resembles kinesiology, but it includes several refinements that allow us to uncover the deeper and often hidden blocks to wellness.
One of the unique aspects of ART is that it requires a second practitioner — and I’m delighted to share that I now practice with Marian Bourne in Wimbledon, a truly gifted practitioner with over 30 years of experience in Applied Kinesiology and other modalities. Through her own journey, Marian developed a special interest in supporting complex chronic pain, and one of her most powerful tools is Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM).
Marian explains that chronic pain is often driven by four key factors: trauma, toxins, infections, and EMFs. While we can address many of these through ART and related therapies, FSM adds another layer of precision and support that continues to impress me.
So what is FSM?
It’s a gentle but powerful therapy that delivers extremely low levels of electrical current — about one-millionth of an ampere — at specific frequencies. Unlike typical frequency-based therapies, FSM uses two distinct frequencies simultaneously: one targeting the condition and another aimed at the tissue involved. The combination helps reduce inflammation, improve circulation, enhance tissue repair, and boost cellular energy (ATP production).
We’ve used FSM together in many sessions, and the results have never ceased to amaze me.
As Marian puts it:
In my opinion, Frequency Specific Microcurrent therapy is a game-changer in pain management. It provides a safe, effective, and drug-free therapy to support your body’s healing process. If you’re seeking solid solutions for chronic pain, injury recovery, or overall wellness, this therapy is worth exploring

3. Improvement Often Lies in the Last Organ You’d Think Of

In the world of functional medicine, each organ system seems to have its moment in the spotlight. First it was the gut, then the thyroid, then the gut-brain axis, and now it’s all about the liver. Yet time and again, I’m amazed how often clients come in with fatigue, pain, or brain fog — only for the real issue to lie somewhere completely unexpected.
It’s natural to assume that discomfort in one part of the body means the problem is right there. But over the years, I’ve learned the body’s communication isn’t always that straightforward. Through Autonomic Response Testing and clinical observation, we’ve seen patterns that challenge conventional assumptions:
- Hip pain? Sometimes linked to mercury amalgams and other environmental compounds.
- Brain fog? Often connected to liver congestion and gut dysbiosis.
- Prostate enlargement? Can often reflect thyroid imbalance or toxicity.
Clients (and I!) are often surprised by these connections — until, weeks later, they notice real changes once the deeper issue is addressed.
It’s easy, after years of exploring different protocols, to chase the same “rabbit holes” of organs and treatments. My encouragement is to stay open — to consider that healing might come from supporting the system you’ve least suspected.
The Healing Journey
Healing, as I’ve learned, isn’t about fixing one thing — it’s about rediscovering balance across body, mind, and energy. These three insights have changed how I approach Chronic Fatigue and Chronic Pain, and they continue to surprise me with the depth of transformation they bring.
If this article has sparked curiosity or reflection for you, I’d love to hear your thoughts or experiences. You’re always welcome to reach out, share your journey, or learn more about how we use these approaches in practice.
Wishing you well on your path to health,
Inder
